This article is about the EY Catalyst Smart Daily Management application.
- Launch the Defect Logging module; or select the hamburger button in the top menu panel and select Daily Management > Defect Logging.
- Ensure that you have selected the correct asset from the context menu.
- Scroll down to the Defects table. Select +Defect.
- In the Defect page, the Asset box lists the current asset. Note: You cannot specify a different asset here. To add a defect for a different asset, close the Defect page and use the context menu to select the appropriate asset.
- The Active Material box and the Created By box are populated by default.
- Enter a short description for the defect in the Defect title box, enter the subsection where the defect was found in the Equipment sub section box, and enter a description for the defect in the Description box.
- Assign the defect to a team member by selecting their name from the Assigned To drop-down list.
- Indicate who found the defect. You can select the name of the team member who found the defect from the Found By drop-down list, select the name of the team who found the defect from the Found By Team drop-down list, or both.
- Select Category and select either Mechanical, Electrical or Other.
- Indicate the relevant component category by selecting the appropriate option from the Component Category drop-down list.
- Indicate how the defect was found by selecting How defect was found and selecting either CIL (clean, inspect, lubricate), PM (Preventive Maintenance), CL (centerline), Tour Route, or Normal Operation.
- Indicate the type of defect by selecting all the options that apply, for example Minor flaws, Hard to reach, Unfulfilled base conditions, Safety place, and Quality. You can select more than one defect type.
- Select the corrective action from the Recommended Action drop-down list. You can select CIL, CL, PM, or DH (defect handling).
- Enter any comments in the Comments box.
- You can choose to upload media files to illustrate the defect:

- Select Image, Video, or Document to upload a relevant file.
- Using the file navigation system of your web browser, navigate to the files you want to upload, select the files, and click Open.
- If the defect was corrected when it was found, select Fixed immediately. Otherwise, leave it unselected.
- Select Save Changes to save the defect.
